Back in '79 Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton were damn right about this band - Blackpool's Section25 were among the best bands that emerged from the UK postpunk miasma of the end of the 70's. "Part-primitiv" is their new work 19 years after the previous album and it's absolutely brilliant. The new and
improved line-up consists of the Cassidy brothers with ex-Tunnelvision Ian Butterworth (check out their single "Watching the Hydroplanes" - a crystaline example of Factory Records bleakness... a real gem!!) and Roger Wikely.
The musical style on "Part-primitiv" remains true to their unique aesthetic because it maintains both the unsettling postpunk of the beginnings and the electro pop of their second incarnation. A special mention must be made to the outstanding "Dream" composed and sung by Jenny Cassidy, who sadly died in 2004. "Part-primitiv" is - along with Wire's "Send" - one of the most striking comebacks of the 00s! To quote one of the best songs: "New horizon, new beginning". PS I assure you they are killer on stage, so don't miss the chance!!
