Italian multimedia artist Jolanda Moletta and Australian-born, Paris-based vocalist Karen Vogt have announced The Electric Witches, a new collaborative project built on wordless voice, improvisation, live electronics and live recordings. It grows from a creative connection of more than a decade, and the duo treat the voice as both instrument and portal, conjuring sound worlds that are intimate, mysterious and ever-shifting.

The collaboration came into focus on Suspended Between Worlds (Longform Editions, 2024), a 21-minute composition made entirely with voice. It was followed by Sea-swallowed wands (quiet details, 2025), their first full-length album together. With The Electric Witches, they aim to become a shared creative entity with its own voice and energy.

Vogt, who co-founded the dream-pop group Heligoland in 1999, works with vocal looping, layering and first takes. Her 2024 album Waterlog (Nite Hive) earned praise from The New York Times, Uncut and Electronic Sound. Moletta, of the dream-pop duo She Owl, is a one-woman electronic choir who combines extended vocal techniques, wearable-controlled live processing and symbolic visuals. Her releases include Nine Spells (Ambientologist, 2022), Night Caves (Whitelabrecs, 2025) and Oceanine (Beacon Sound, 2026). She’ll perform at the sold-out Lumen in Stockholm on November 15.

The duo are now working on their debut album as The Electric Witches, scheduled for release in 2027.
