I am writing to you as you are a fan and supporter of Street Sounds.
Since the relaunch of the label last year we have dedicated all of our time and resources in re-establishing the Street Sounds label and now feel that it is time to make the next big leap. However, we can only do this with your help & support.
Street Sounds is a big part of my life and I am sure yours also. The music scene and our lives were very different in the 80’s than they are today & I hope the Street Sounds albums, whether Electro, Main, Jazz Juice, Anthems, Rare Groove or other series, make up some of the great memories you have today.
Since the relaunch we have had many emails, Facebook & other messages of support and it is this loyalty and excitement of ‘everything’ Street Sounds that has been the deciding factor to hold a Street Sounds/UK Fresh Reunion and club night in February next year! If you ever bought a Street Sounds album or were one of the 15,000 Electro fans who managed to get a ticket to UK Fresh ’86…THEN THIS IS FOR YOU AND WILL BE THE PARTY OF THE DECADE!
This will be the first and only Official Street Sounds event ever to be held in 25 years and I’d love to see you there! We intend to have a tremendous line-up of DJs and artists on the night and will have various rooms playing different genres of music from Electro/Hip Hop, to Soul/R&B and House/Dance. We will have B-Boys and graffiti artists and many other attractions. We are in the process of booking the artists but must first be sure that this event will be supported by you the Street Sounds ‘loyal’. The size of the venue and final line-up will be dependent on how many people actually commit to coming.
I think (and hope) that Street Sounds means something special to you and ask that you support us in any way possible. Many people have already asked since rumours of the event first came about, if they can make donations to help with the reunion, thank you but I would prefer your support in other ways. The most obvious is to buy the Street Sounds albums either from our website or from any good record store. Please drop into HMV and show your support for us, even if you have Nu Electro vol.1, 2 or 3 already maybe consider buying another copy for a friend’s Christmas stocking; please note we only have a few dozen Nu Electro vol.3 Vinyls left. We also have an exclusive collection of Street Sounds clothing which you can only buy online from our website. Check out the Autumn/Winter 2010/11 Range. Many of the Street Sounds Gear items are limited editions and will become instant collector’s items.
In a couple of days we will be mailing out to you a short questionnaire which will help us immensely in making this Street Sounds Reunion one that will be remembered for many years to come.
As well as the Nu Electro series of albums we are about to release some incredible new album series and also have the first back catalogue albums almost ready to re-release. These classic Street Sounds albums have been remastered from the original master tapes and will be available on CD and digital download. I will of course let you know more details shortly.
Nu Electro vol.3 has proved to be such a hit with everyone that I have been asked to guest on various Street Sounds radio specials across the UK. The shows are packed full of great music and many stories about Street Sounds. Please see the links below (more will be added each week).
