Khan’s Hallucinations is the second collaboration between electronic/industrial artists Alexei Borisov (ASTMA, F.R.U.I.T.S., Notchnoi Prospekt, Peanbo) and Vyacheslav Ismagilov (Deficit) again themed around the late Genghis Khan. Featuring thirteen tracks of abstract noise a la musique concrete incorporating Uzbek folk rhythm and instruments as well as electronics and spoken word, the album journeys through the psychosis of a ruler at the end of their reign being put through their own torments and being overstretched in their mental and physical capacity; relating to how similar ordeals evolve in the modern world. Abrupt percussion collides with collages of harsh noise and ambient recordings to convey the themes presented on this cassette release.
Alexei Borisov is forerunner of the Russian underground experimental scene and has worked with many artists in the scene. Based in Moscow Borisov continues to push the boundaries of improvisation, live and recorded performance. Vyacheslav Ismagilov, originally from Tashkent, Uzbekistan now based out of Kazan, Russia, creates electronic music with a heavy influence from his origins and culture of Uzbekistan resulting in a unique aural soundscape.
