‘Toward’ is the new single by Mountain West-based sound artist, musician, and composer Francis Morning, released on the accliamed Lo Recordings.
The track invokes the sense of being ferried in a celestial rowing boat, propelled by oars turned by momentum itself, the blades chopping in and out of untamed, spectral sound waves.
“'Toward' features my 1900’s player piano, though it’s long since lost its original function. I added felt to dampen the sound, though I only had enough to cover a small section of the keys – which turned out to be a limitation that worked well for me.
The title is a reference to a meditation instruction – “look toward and let go”. – Francis Morning
