‘Leck’, the follow up to 2020’s ‘In Balance’ collection on Salmon Universe, is the latest in the label’s on going innovative ‘S-P-A-C-I-O-U-S-N-E-S-S’ series of special cassette releases which has previously delivered music by Laraaji, Iasos, JD Emmanuel, Ariel Kalma, Matthewdavid, Mary Lattimore and many other visionary artists.
Lecu, aka electronic producer Leo Cunningham, resides in Plymouth and records on the Devonshire coast and right from the opening track you can almost hear the ripples of the waves, smell the sea salt in the air, see beautiful blue skies and feel a nice gentle breeze.
Recorded using modular and software synths, a Korg Minilogue, and a UDO Super 6 synthesizer, the new album features eight new tracks including the lead single ‘Birthdays At Midnight’ that sounds fresh and futuristic but has echoes of classic ambient masters like Harold Budd, John Hassell and Mort Garson and a nod to 90’s acts like Spacetime Continuum and Global Communications.
The cassette tape comes perfectly packaged by the award winning Non Format design team and features images by Janine Rook.
