Ghostly mainstay Lusine brings a reflective composition that gives the album one of its most expansive, emotional moments.

Jeff McIlwain, the acclaimed Seattle producer better known as Lusine, has shared “Bird's Eye”, the latest single from his forthcoming tenth studio album. Following lead single “Pendulum”, the new track offers another glimpse into the deeply personal sonic world McIlwain has crafted, reaffirming his return to the immersive, rhythm-driven ambient music that has defined some of his most enduring work.

“Bird's Eye” unfolds with quiet patience and cinematic scope, tracing the past and present through a progression of pinwheeling bells. It’s melodic, rhythmic core drifts atop warm, expansive synthesizer pads, revealing the emotional heart of the album. While “Melting Days” explores memory, grief, transition and renewal, “Bird’s Eye” invites listeners to drift and surrender to the instinctual movement that has long distinguished Lusine's approach to ambient music.

Written during a challenging period in McIlwain's life, “Melting Days” emerged from a deeply reflective and solitary time. Rather than a collection of individual songs, he assembled the album like a film and prioritised emotional flow over conventional structure to allow ideas to evolve organically. “I think this was a bit freeing for me, not needing to compromise on ideas,” McIlwain explains.

Rather than marking a stylistic shift, “Melting Days” represents a confident return to the richly textured electronic landscapes that first established Lusine as one of ambient music's most distinctive voices. While recalling the immersive spirit of his 2007 album “Language Barrier”, the new record is less a nostalgic revisit than a refined continuation of a sound McIlwain has spent decades developing.

Balancing delicate textures, rhythmic propulsion and cinematic atmosphere with subtle experimentation, “Melting Days” finds Lusine reconnecting with his ambient roots. Within that landscape, “Bird's Eye” stands as one of the record's defining moments: luminous, reflective and atmospheric, transforming memory into motion with remarkable restraint and clarity. “Bird's Eye” captures the album's emotional depth and understated beauty, offering a compelling portrait of an artist returning to the sound that has quietly shaped contemporary electronic music while continuing to push it forward.
