The revised edition of the independent, non-profit short documentary NOTHING NEW BUT ABORTIVE GASP is now available.
Directed by Ludwig Kamberlein, the 8-minute film (Germany, 2021; revised re-release: 2025) explores the legacy of ABORTIVE GASP, a Hamburg-based electro-industrial band active from 1987 to 1989. Known for their highly improvisational approach to electronic music and their non-political stance, the band occupied a distinctive and often controversial position within the German independent music scene.
Blending documentary elements with fictional sequences, the film also addresses contemporary issues, including childlessness and the limited inclusivity of the dark alternative (“black scene”) subculture towards refugees and Muslims.
