With their new EP “Lightbringer”, COVENANT take one step back and two steps forward. “Lightbringer” comes with five mixes, plus some completely unreleased material, and features contributions from NECRO FACILITY, one of Sweden’s up-and-coming new electronic acts. A groovy, grinding and driven floor-filler with a melody that can’t be exorcised once you’ve heard it. COVENANT never sounded this pure. Strictly limited to 3,000 units.
HEIMATAERDE merge electronic dancefloor beats with soft, often archaically instrumented, melodies. The new album “Unwesen” is state of the art harsh EBM/industrial with beats designed to take the underground dancefloors by storm. The limited edition digibook features a full-length bonus CD and a sumptuous 32-page storybook.
LEAETHER STRIP return with a 2CD box set including the “Dark Passages” motion soundtrack disc plus the new special studio album “Seasons Change – I Don’t”. The “Dark Passages” CD features the complete versions of the songs used in the movie and transports you straight into the film’s sombre and dense atmosphere, whilst the new fourteen-track album presents new songs recorded just after the soundtrack, including two special collaborations with MORTIIS and EHRON VONALLEN.
Industrial legend Al Jourgensen revisits highlights from the vast MINISTRY canon with “Undercover” and throws a terrifying new spin on classics of yesteryear. This new, exclusive career retrospective features newly invigorated versions of fan favourites plus cover versions of songs made famous by BLACK SABBATH, AC/DC, THE ROLLING STONES, and JIMI HENDRIX.
“Comedy of Menace” is the fourth album from ‘Techno Body Music’ guru TERENCE FIXMER. A true techno album, with an instantly recognizable pure sound, a deep and dark atmosphere throughout. The album is in many ways hypnotising and cerebral, yet at the same time keeps the energy flowing, making it perfect for the dancefloor.
Other news in this packed week sees a re-issue of ROME’s long sold out debut album “Nera”, along with a limited collector’s set with a lovely T-shirt; and for dark electro fans a 2CD and 3CD box set offering from AMGOD (a solo project of YELWORC’s ex-frontman) in “Dreamcatcher”. INFACTED bring us more classic EBM releases with THE WEATHERMEN’S “Ultimate Poison”, and ATARAXIA are re-issuing 1999’s “Lost Atlantis” and one of their most successful albums “Saphir”.
There’s also a dark and melodic debut album from RAZORFADE!, that finally brings hope and light to the stagnating world of goth music: “This Clear Shining”. Featuring ex-members of SUSPIRIA (my old mate Mark!) and IKON! If that wasn’t enough label compilation “Infacted Vol. 5″ brings us 16 pumpin’ clubsounds and DEATHWATCH ASIA are releasing a 32-track double-CD compilation entitled “Asia Matrix”, limited to only 300 copies worldwide. Review “You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” – Winston Churchill Numerous victorious battles in the guise of two internationally successful albums, explosive festival gigs and three colossal touring missions through the USA have turned NACHTMAHR into a truly invincible force. In 2010, the project returns to the industrial battlefields as nothing less than a superior opponent that no one can hold back. The impressively matured third album “Semper Fidelis” does full justice to this ultimate grasp for leadership: a groundbreaking, massive, unique beast of an album, underlining the “with or against us” attitude of the Austrian Imperial Industrial spearheads more than ever before. Worship or abhorrence – there is no other possibility. In virtue of the slogan “Semper Fidelis” (‘Forever loyal’), supreme commander Thomas Rainer exercises a spectacular detonation of shell splinters and crushed detritus which is true to the attitude of his previous works, yet at the same time full of an unimagined wealth of complexity, establishing the borders to other brutal industrial commandos even firmer. Take “Wir Schreiben Geschichte” with a sample that is as thought-provoking as the harsh noise sequences are relentless. Or the wildly thrashing industrial bomb thrower “Verräter an Gott” that cleverly continues epic NACHTMAHR manifestos like “Katharsis” and “Mörder”. “Can You Feel the Beat?”, then, gives another proof of the supreme commander’s passion for classic EBM while “Unbeugsam” shows the pure essence of this act while serving the genre’s most massive beats ever. And with the stomping electro stampede of “Tanz, Major!” resounding through the clubs, everyone will voluntarily enlist to the NACHTMAHR army. “Semper Fidelis” offensively proves that the decadent philosophy behind NACHTMAHR is incorruptible. The songs clarify more than ever that this attack is guided by an artist playing by his own rules. Above everything else, NACHTMAHR is especially one thing: honest. And honesty is the best policy. This nightmare has only just begun! The ‘standard’ edition of the album comes in a six-panel digipak with a sumptuous 28-page booklet. | Covenant | Lightbringer (featuring NECRO FACILITY) | £6.50

Review COVENANT refuse to yield and persistently continue to bring the light in spite of all odds. Another shade of pale, the Morning Star rises once again. With their new EP “Lightbringer”, COVENANT take one step back and two steps forward. “Lightbringer” comes with five mixes, plus some completely unreleased material, and features contributions from NECRO FACILITY, one of Sweden’s up-and-coming top new electronic acts. The title track is the fruit of this inspiring collaboration, and the result is undeniably COVENANT but with a new flavor. A groovy, grinding and driven floor-filler with a melody that can’t be exorcised once you’ve heard it. It comes in versions respectively designed by band members Eskil Simonsson, Daniel Myer and Joakim Montelius, each using their own particular sonic foundry and magic, and a stunning Radio Version by Oscar Holter of NECRO FACILITY. COVENANT never sounded this pure. In addition the EP also contains the previously unreleased tracks “The Beauty and the Grace”, written by Daniel Myer, and “Never Seems to End” by Eskil Simonsson and Joakim Montelius. The “Lightbringer” EP is undeniable evidence of the synergistic COVENANT maxim “we are more than the sum of our parts”. The light is very bright indeed! Strictly limited to 3000 units. | Heimataerde | Unwesen | £13.50

Review Envisioned by DJ ASh, HEIMATAERDE merge electronic dancefloor beats with soft, often archaically instrumented melodies. The new album “Unwesen” is state of the art harsh EBM/industrial with beats designed to take the underground dancefloors by storm. While musically HEIMATAERDE are much in the vein of legendary dark EBM acts like older WUMPSCUT and SUICIDE COMMANDO, the music does have its own unique identity, and a modern, up-to-date sound. After the highly successful predecessor EPs “Dark Dance” and “Malitia Angelica”, the band now finally return with a massive new chapter in their HEIMATAERDE story! | Leaether Strip | Dark Passages + Seasons Change – I Don’t | £24.75
![]() |
Review LEAETHER STRIP return with a 2CD box set including the “Dark Passages” motion soundtrack disc plus the new special studio album “Seasons Change – I Don’t”. After having paid homage to one of his mentors (John Carpenter) on his “Hælloween” EP, Claus Larsen now goes one level further by creating the complete soundtrack for the “Dark Passages” movie directed by Cesar Cruz. The alchemy of their creative union shows how much both men have been inspiring each other and how they have made each other’s dreams come true: “I was really inspired by the script, so one song turned into three and then in a few weeks there was a full album. I just dropped everything I had going on at the time. This was what I had been waiting for since I had hair on my head” says Claus Larsen. “I have been a fan of AE for as long as I started Outworld Entertainment. I guess you can call it ‘fate’ or something. I first heard “Strap Me Down” on a compilation and I was instantly hooked! I have been listening to AE ever since. Working with Claus has been a dream come true. Claus has become a dedicated and talented friend/team member during this project. It was amazing to work with him. The man is a machine!” adds Cesar Cruz who recently won a new award for the video clip he made for LEAETHER STRIP’s previous album song “Love Me or Die”. The “Dark Passages” CD features the complete versions of the songs to be used in the movie (including a bunch of vocal songs) and transports you straight into the film’s sombre and dense atmosphere. It is a wonderful first glimpse into a film that you will all hopefully soon discover at one of the festivals where it’s already lined up, or at its scheduled premieres. Hopefully this poignant soundtrack is the first in a series of future collaborations between both artists, challenging and taking them into other sides of their strong respective personalities. This 2CD box also includes a new fourteen-track album, aptly titled “Seasons Change – I Don’t”, presenting new songs recorded just after the soundtrack. From the big beat of “Black Magic Man” through the dramatic feel of the depressive “Dead Swan”, from the sexy and clubby groove of “Bondage Is Not a Crime” to the tearful intimacy of the dark electro title song, there are many hit moments on this new LEAETHER STRIP tour de force. Fans will also be thrilled by the extended versions of the soundtrack songs “Dark Passages” and “Everything Dies” which both have club-hit potential, as well as by new versions of the unavoidable “My Shadow Is Your Home” and “Voluntary Confinement”. Last, but not least, two special collaborations with MORTIIS and EHRON VONALLEN put the cherry on the cake. Seasons change… LEAETHER STRIP does NOT! | Terence Fixmer | Comedy of Menace | £14.75
![]() |
Review The first artist album on the new Electric Deluxe label! With his distinct musical style and personality, Terence caught the attention of owner Speedy J at a very early stage in the label’s development. “Comedy of Menace” is the fourth album from this talented pioneer. On his first two albums, released on DJ Hell’s Gigolo label, Terence invented a new style of his own: ‘Techno Body Music’, a unique combination of modern techno and EBM, in the vein of founding fathers NITZER EBB (with whom Terence still collaborates on the FIXMER/MCCARTHY project) and FRONT 242. His third album was released on his own label, and featured a deeper ambience, almost cinematic, palpable emotion and hypnotic rhythms. With “Comedy of Menace” FIXMER has now created a true techno album, with an instantly recognizable pure sound, a deep and dark atmosphere throughout. The album is in many ways hypnotizing and cerebral, yet at the same time keeps the energy flowing, making it perfect for the dancefloor. Terence explains: “I wanted that people can feel a soul, a story, and the sound of every track to open up the imagination of the listener, creating images in their minds… It’s an art and a passion, my heart is bumping for electronic sounds. I love when the music is really coming from the heart of the machine, when the sound is pure and raw.” Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Rome | Nera [Re-Issue] | £14.00 | ||
![]() |
Review After a highly praised mini CD, the expectations for ROME’s debut album were huge – and ROME delivered! ROME songs are full of citations, abstractions and ideals. The marching and counter-marching of doubtful armies luring our love away, with licit grace, icy and bitter irony. Gentle phantasms of desire; the reversal of sympathies; the aspects of eternity, spiritual hunger, treachery and corruption, shame and honour – all being more than mere traps for the unsophisticated: these are some of “Nera”‘s interlocking themes in a world scorched by the wastefulness and cruelty of war. “Nera” is the meticulous patience of rage. Get it now and make it your friend, before it devours you! The first edition of this debut album sold out long ago after its release in 2006. Trisol is both honoured and proud to finally make this release available again. Due to Jerome’s constant changes of address during the CMI years some original artwork files have been lost to time. However, the artwork has been restored or partially re-invented and even enhanced with a booklet containing all the lyrics and additional photographs. | Rome | Nera Collector’s Set (T-shirt L) | £42.00
![]() |
Review Just as with the previous, absolutely AMAZING “Berlin” Shirt, Trisol decided once again to print a TOP quality shirt for this re-release – the best there is on the market: this t-shirt is not your average black shirt, but an olive green colour with black print. This rather nostalgic look fits ROME’s “Nera” CD perfectly. To top it off, the ROME logo is rendered in an elaborate 3D print. The front of the t-shirt features the slogan “A NOI E MANCATA SOLTANTO LA FORTUNA – NON IL CORAGGIO” (‘We ran out of luck, not courage’) and the back says “LA LORO MORTE AVVILISCE LA NOSTRA VITA” (‘Their deaths put my life to shame’). | amGod | Dreamcatcher | £14.75
![]() |
Review After several years of silent confinement, Munich-based AMGOD frontman broke his restraints and started testing new material on stage… The resonant feedback received both in person and through the internet blog communities allowed his inner darkness regenerate at full speed. AMGOD is the creative output of multi-talented artist Dominik van Reich, ex-frontman of German harsh dark electro act YELWORC. Created in 1993, this conceptual solo-project takes its creative inspiration from the word ‘dogma’, symbolizing the first commandment in the inverted sense “I am God”, a direct connection with egotism and narcissism – with the morbid attraction of falling in love with oneself and all the related states of envy, dissatisfaction and aggression… Depicting the abysses of mankind and today’s decline of society, the new amGod album continues where the previous one stopped by incorporating new sound directions and integrating influences gathered over the years. With a forward dancefloor approach mixed with heavily-fused synthesizers and some manipulated guitars, AMGOD stands more than ever for threatening dark electro-industrial with hard dominant vocals… In addition, the music is perfectly reinforced by high-impact visuals and design. Image, of course, remains an integral part of the AMGOD concept and the new album therefore sees itself divided into two chapters of musical nightmares split across two full discs sub-titled “Creeped & Bloody” and “Harsh & Dirty”, each presented as a stand-alone release with an expanded 20-page booklet full of disturbing deviant artwork by the genius Phil Amelung (Armageddon-Industries.de). AMGOD offers an multi-sense extravaganza through complex visual and sonic architecture made up of malevolent electronic ambiance, dark electro sequences, powerful distorted vocals and dirty manipulated guitar sounds. From the orchestral grandeur of “God Complex (Part 2)” to the upbeat club devastator “Pain and Desire”, through the dark elekcro pearls “On the Hunt”, “Dreamcatcher” and “Fight!”, there are also the ear-challenging tracks “Brap Talk” and “War Trap”, without mentioning the hypnotizing 13+ minutes long upgraded version of “Stigmata” and the upgraded remake of YELWORC’s classic “Soulhunter”… AMGOD is on the hunt again – run for shelter before the beast grabs you!! | Ataraxia | Lost Atlantis [Re-Issue] [Argentinian Import] | £16.75
![]() |
Review Eleven years after its first release in 1999 (on CruelMoon/Cold Meat Industry) this masterpiece will finally be available again in a new digipak edition, digitally re-mastered. “Lost Atlantis” embodies the ancestral myth of the well-known sunken land, the heritage of all our subconsciouses, wherever we come from. Legend has it that about 50,000 years ago, two important civilizations fought a terrible war leading to their disappearance, by sinking into the ocean. ATARAXIA say of this album: “Before disappearing, these two civilizations intended to leave signs to the future inhabitants of the earth, so they wouldn’t make the same mistakes. These traces are present in many ancient buildings, like the pyramids in Egypt, Mexico and some Mediterranean and Oceanic islands. We visited some of those sites, we studied some ancient codex, we mixed the sources linked to ancient Greece and the disappearance of the Minoic civilization with legends based on the costumes of different civilizations, philosophies and traditions; we trusted our sensitivity and we transformed all of this into a musical suggestion. We have tried to describe the mythic origin of man through symbols, creating a pagan opera that owns a sacral taste. We tried to capture the sounds of both the Mediterranean sea and the ocean, you can perceive a timeless suspension, a sort of respect for crystalized things, a strong spiritual atmosphere…” Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Ataraxia | Saphir [Re-Issue] [Argentinian Import] | £16.75 | ||
![]() |
Review
Finally re-released, one of their most successful albums, originally on Cold Meat but deleted for many years. Now available in digitally re-mastered sound quality and a deluxe digipak. One of the most poetic and varied albums by ATARAXIA, “Saphir” was inspired by the magical, symbolic and mystic nature of gardens. Gardens of all ages, linked to different geographic areas, (the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Arabian Gardens, the medieval Hortus Conclusum, the Zen Gardens and the English Romantic Gardens) were the starting point for ATARAXIA’s musical research. The harmony governing the elements composing a garden is the same as that governing the elements composing music, and all of this creates beauty. In “Saphir”, nature and art are mixed together to create an environment and lifestyle mainly based on what is functional and productive; focus your attention on the most precious gift a human being should never be obliged to renounce: the freedom to dream and an aesthetic taste for life. The music is rich and nuanced: classical and flamenco guitars, romantic pianos, pads of atmospheric keyboards, noble sonatas, epic tunes, rich vocal broderies and some eastern and classical percussion by RICCARDO SPAGGIARI, appearing for the very first time on an ATARAXIA album. | Razorfade | This Clear Shining | £12.50
![]() |
Review Here comes a dark and melodic album that finally brings hope and light to the stagnating world of goth music: “This Clear Shining” by RAZORFADE! An aptly titled debut album of such high maturity that this new band could only be hiding experienced musicians! Featuring ex-members of SUSPIRIA and IKON, RAZORFADE reveals a dark electronic sound approach whilst still incorporating atmospheric guitar and vocals reminiscent of the pair’s previous projects. Sombre, catchy, danceable anthems share similarities with bands like VNV NATION, CLAN OF XYMOX or even ASSEMBLAGE 23. “This Clear Shining” is an album that encompasses different styles, ranging from those aimed at squarely at the dancefloor, such as “Chemical Distraction”, “Shout Down” and “Breathe”, to slower, more introspective songs like “Fear Is Rising”, “The Razor Fades” and “A Push Away from Falling”. But whatever the style of the song it is always underpinned by melody. Whether driven by the music or the by the vocals, there is a genuine melodic feel to the album. Mark Tansley, who was a pioneer of UK alternative music in the 1990s and was at the forefront of integrating electronic sounds into the goth scene with his cult band SUSPIRIA, is not one to dwell on the past, and the music he has written for RAZORFADE is another giant leap forward! Add to this the pensive lyrics and deep vocal styling of Clifford Ennis and you’ll quickly understand why this band should appeal to fans of dark alternative, goth and electronic music alike. RAZORFADE are effectively reinterpreting alternative electronic music for those with a darker side by blending influences from the alternative 1980s new wave and gothic rock movements with current electro sounds. On “This Clear Shining” RAZORFADE write about distorted truths, wasted lives, and unwinnable wars. They translate their huge emotional outpouring into sinister melodic tunes, by successfully blending electronic music with dark alternative/goth, the outcome being music which sits perfectly in the middle of both genres, promisingly described by journalists as a ‘brilliant melodic melange of the SISTERS OF MERCY and DEPECHE MODE’! | MZ412 | In Nomine Dei Nostri Satanas Luciferi Excelsi [Re-Issue] | £13.50
![]() |
Review The first of five albums in the MZ.412 reissue series on Cold Spring, with an all new album planned for next year. 1995 bore witness to the resurrection of the nefarious Swedish horde MZ.412 (previously MASCHINENZIMMER 412) – NORDVARGR, DRAKH, ULVTHARM and SHAITAN. This ground-breaking, genre-defining album saw the inventors of ‘Black Industrial’ blur the boundaries between black metal, ritual industrial, dark ambient and powernoise. “In Nomine…” captures the darkest sides of Satanism, death and ritual sacrifice. An enduring, blasphemous statement of true swedish black industrial. | Steven Severin | The Blood of a Poet (Le Sang d’un Poète) | £13.50
![]() |
Review Acclaimed solo artist and founding member of the legendary SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES, STEVEN SEVERIN’s debut album for Cold Spring is his entire soundtrack to Jean Cocteau’s 1930 black and white surrealist classic, and is the second in his ongoing series of “Music for Silents”. During their reign, SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES established themselves as one of the foremost alternative acts of their time, and the only survivors of the London punk scene to evolve, innovate and succeed until their final demise in 2002. Severin has since committed himself almost exclusively to scoring for film and television. In May 2008, he began performing live accompaniments to silent films, startling audiences across the globe who have now come to expect the unexpected from the man who has crossed paths with such diverse luminaries as JOHN CALE, ALAN MOORE, JARBOE, LYDIA LUNCH, MARC ALMOND, MERC CUNNINGHAM, ROBERT SMITH and the TIGER LILLIES. “The Blood of a Poet” received its premiere at the Silent Movie Theater in Hollywood in January of this year and this October sees Severin embark on his first ever solo tour of the UK hosted by the Picturehouse chain of cinemas. | Silvery | Written on Skin | £14.75
![]() |
Review Six years after their debut “Blackbox” (followed by “High-Class High On”), here at last is the highly-anticipated new album from SILVERY. The listener is accustomed to the great works this band have already delivered but, without a doubt, “Written On Skin” meets all expectations. SILVERY describe their latest musical outcome as a dark pop experience. The music is more than ever before a crossover of goth rock, trip-hop sounds, dark wave, synthie pop and metal. The band like to vary the mood a lot, from powerful, emotional abysses, driven by guitars (“Return or Ahead”) to apparently consumed by a sad longing and sometimes even fragile tune. The songs tend to have a gloomy and atmospheric spirit, influenced by the extraordinary melancholic voice leaving its decisive mark on the band’s sound. The very first beat reveals “Written on Skin” as a piece of art that SILVERY have put their heart and soul into. Not only the music itself but also the production is defined by high quality, with the involvment of well known and experienced professionals like Dirk Riegner (who has worked with PETER HEPPNER, SECRET DISCOVERY, XANDRIA and others). As a result the sound exceeds all expectations. SILVERY do not warm up the well-established. This album is a modern interpretation of dark wave, that does not serve clichés or get lost in them. | Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) | History of Modern | £12.00
![]() |
Review ORCHESTRAL MANOEUVRES IN THE DARK, one of the UK’s most iconic bands, are back with their first new album in fourteen years, the appropriately entitled “History Of Modern”. And what a return. Andy McCluskey has called it “our best album since ‘Architecture and Morality'” and few would disagree. The album was produced by OMD and mixed by one of the UK’s most in demand producers, Mike Crossey (ARCTIC MONKEYS/BLOOD RED SHOES/RAZORLIGHT). “History of Modern” is a powerful, pulsating, vibrant and contemporary album with a strong pop sensibility. Tracks such as “Pulse”, “Save Me”, “Sister Marie Says” and “The Future” are huge future dancefloor fillers while others like the downtempo “Bondage of Fate”, “If You Want It” and “Sometimes” are quite simply beautiful, classic OMD songs. The music sees a return to the band’s early pioneering electronic roots, a sound that is now recognised as being a major influence on many of today’s electro artists. The likes of LCD SOUNDSYSTME’s James Murphy, THE XX and THE KILLERS have all cited OMD as a massive inspiration. Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Rotersand | Waiting To Be Born | £10.00 | ||

Review August 2009: with “War on Error”, ROTERSAND delivered the first foretaste of the global resistance movement they were about to establish and which they spread with their groundbreaking electronic manifesto “Random Is Resistance” in October 2009. The most danceable resistance of all times. September 2010: thirteen months later, the artful electro architects lift “Waiting To Be Born”, one of the most emotional songs from “Random Is Resistance”, thereby adding more fuel to the fire of their heated campaign against uniform thinking and the global sellout of identity. Already a capital hymn lacking neither forceful beats nor elegiac melodies in its original version, the track has been carefully reworked resulting in nothing less than a futurepop classic for eternity! There are also three exclusive tracks only available on this EP which elevate “Waiting To Be Born” far above the standard of an in itself worthy remix collection: a cover version of “A Strange Kind of Love”, bowing deeply to PETER MURPHY’s original despite a thoroughly independent club attitude; the intensely pulsating “All These Moments”; and the moving ballad “Wasted Wings”. Again, these three songs display ROTERSAND’s immense artistic bandwidth, auniquely diverse mixture of industrial pop, EBM, trance and mature songwriting, convincing with emotional depth as well as virtuouso design. In addition, we find the monumental wide screen mix of “First Time” by [:SITD:], the insanely whipping, energized IVARDENSPHERE remix of “War On Error” and the treacherous dub monster that crept out of “If You Don’t Stop It”, between them documenting the impressive range of ideas and the impulsive force with which ROTERSAND enrich the electro cosmos. 50 minutes, nine tracks, one superbly mastered task: massive, club-compatible electro lacking neither lyrical content nor musical sophistication. “Waiting To Be Born” shows how diversified electronic music can – and should – be! With exclusive artwork and a voluminous booklet, this collector’s item with its strict limitation of 2000 copies is sure to become an exclusive enrichment of every electro collection. | Rome | Berlin | £10.00

Review The surprising new stars on the apocalyptic folk scene sprout from the punk and sing-songwriter genres, and have now combined these attitudes with a sombre and experimental martial folk influcence to give a strong personal imprint. ROME are about emotive songs that are both catchy and disturbed. These songs awaken memories of love and death, with reoccurring themes of despair and loss, guilt and grief, might and war. With the cynical opening line “Once we learned to speak we learned to fail”, the band set a grand colour to this exquisite candy piece of six exclusive songs. This much demanded re-release of “Berlin” comes in a very appealing digipak. The first edition of this debut mini-album has long been sold out since its release in 2006, but Trisol are finally making it available again. Due to Jerome’s constant changes of address during the CMI-years, some of the original artwork files have been lost to time. However, the artwork has been restored or partially re-invented, and in some places even enhanced, including a booklet containing all lyrics and additional photographs. Review “Dirty Cash” is the title of the new upcoming EP by REAPER, the solo project of Vasi Vallis (NAMNAMBULU, FROZEN PLASMA). Actually, he calls it an EP, but it is almost an album, as it comes with massive eleven(!) songs for a smooth MCD price! On the title track, this EP features the vocal talents of Pete from labelmates SHIV-R, who recently took the clubs by storm with their debut album “Hold my Hand”. Pete’s vocals give this song a massive drive, guaranteed to make all club addicts move! In addition, there are some great bonustracks, such as a brand new remix of the recent club hit “Robuste Maschine”, as well as amazing remixes by NOISUF-X, SYNCROTEK and EISENFUNK to name just a few! A great and promising taster for the second REAPER album expected for late 2010! Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Spiritual Front | Rotten Roma Casino | £19.75 | ||

Review The ‘Armageddon Gigolo’ is back: on the brand new album “Rotten Roma Casino” the charismatic Italian heartbreaker Simone Salvatore’s band once again define that which they have shaped like no other: ‘suicide pop’. That is to say melancholy melodies, stirring guitar chords, emotional vocals and yearning string passages, but also solid-groove beats and macabre phrases. Just as the recipe which singled-handedly defined the genre was fully finalised on “Armageddon Gigolo”, “Rotten Roma Casino” goes a decisive step further. SPIRITUAL FRONT once more summoned together the proven ensemble featuring chamber musicians associated with ENNIO MORRICONE and created a whole series of musical gems which you can’t get out of your head after just a single hearing. As per the title, it’s about Rome – a metaphorical, decadent Rome however, a parallel to the Roma of Fellini, full of wonder, monstrosities and passions. The album pays homage to the orgiastic, wild and ambiguous, particularly on the intense videoclips that are featured on the accompanying bonus DVD, conjuring up the immortal spirit of Rainer Werner Fassbinder. The doleful “Sad Almost a Winner” orientates itself towards his homoerotic melodrama “Fox and his Friends”, while the clip for “Darkroom Friendship” pays homage to the promiscuous bisexual passion of frontman Salvatori. Shimmering skin in the twilight – ‘a friendship made of flesh and lust’. Salvatori acknowledges that without Fassbinder’s controversial ‘sex and death’ drama “Querelle”, he probably wouldn’t have founded SPIRITUAL FRONT. To all this are added harmonies which seem to derive from the legendary creators of film music, Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota. SPIRITUAL FRONT carry their unmistakeable Italian spirit into the post-modern, consciously shaking off their underground roots in order to invent their own unique variety of morbid folk-pop which blends indie rock, acoustic chords and tango into a new, intense and above all heartrending, genuine mixture. In a varied sequence of romantic, vibrant, cynical, sad and occasionally gruesome ballads, we dive into the their incomparable world. “Rotten Roma Casino” is fresh and original but at the same time a mature and majestic musical work, without compromise yet catchy; slightly sweet yet disturbing. In any case a worthy redemption of the promise which “Armageddon Gigolo” once gave. Suicide pop in its purest form… This strictly limited special first edition includes the CD in an eight-panel digipak, bonus DVD, a special Leporello fold-out booklet with precious art prints on high-quality paper including all lyrics and exclusive photos and a fold-out poster. Limited to 1,999 copies worldwide. Format Tracklisting Disc 2 – DVD:- Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

Review Since Nicklas and Christian first joined forces, KITE have managed to reach further than most bands do in a lifespan. A-List positions on Swedish national radio, TV performances, sold-out venues and performances at some of the biggest festivals in Scandinavia just to mention a few facts. Their unique blend of electronic music mixed with indie-pop has reached out and really touched the hearts of the listeners and you will find an equal amount of Kate Bush as you will DAF in their sound. Review Dependent have been releasing instalments of the “Septic” compilation for eleven years. The series focuses on creating new hits rather than compiling existing ones. Comprised in equal parts of unsigned bands and established acts, the “Septic” tracklist represents rare and unreleased material judged by Dependent to have maximum clubhit potential; indeed the series has helped bands like VNV NATION, THE RETROSIC, SITD, SEABOUND, PRIDE AND FALL and others to achieve their iconic status in the clubs. “Septic IX” once again combines a wealth of fresh sounds from all corners of the scene together with several big names. For everyone who has been drowning in the sea of MySpace and Facebook mediocrity, “Septic IX” will shine like a beacon of exceptional quality. Strictly limited to 2500 copies worldwide. Review “Reconnected Live” documents one of pop’s most anticipated tours: in the summer of 2008 Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet reunited for the first time in over 25 years. The Times said “Clarke has unobtrusively retooled the band’s music for the digital age, making their vintage 1980s synthesizer ditties sound crisp, fluid and timeless” while The Guardian noted, “YAZOO’s first tour in 26 years finds the chemistry behind their smash hits unchanged.” Produced by YAZOO, recorded by Martin Hildred and mixed by Vince Clarke, “Reconnected Live” features classic tracks from YAZOO’s albums “Upstairs at Eric’s” and “You and Me Both”, including “Only You”, “Don’t Go” and “Situation” plus tracks such as “Nobody’s Diary”, performed live for the first time ever. | Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction | We Are Volsung | £13.25
![]() |
Review First new studio album in five years from the band that MÖTLEY CRÜE once declared as their favourite band of all time! They were the prime mover, they preached back seat education, together with ALICE COOPER they fed Frankenstein… and now they’re back… meaner, leaner and heavier than ever. ZODIAC MINDWARP & THE LOVE REACTION will are entering a new decade of heavy dirty street rock’n’roll and they declare “We Are Volsung”. In a musical world of hairspray and spandex, two long-haired leather clad rockers were introduced to each other by their ‘exotic dancer’ girlfriends. One, a graphic artist and poet, the other a budding philosopher. They immediately dropped everything, joined forces and created the dirtiest, wildest band of all time. One year later, they signed to Polygram, and released, first the ground-breaking “High Priest of Love” EP, and subsequently the “Tattooed Beat Messiah” album, containing the well-received single “Prime Mover”. Overnight they accidentally changed the look of all the rock bands of the time from the obligatory spandex, eye liner and tinsel, to rough biker jackets, engineer boots and goatee beards. MÖTLEY CRÜE declared them to be their favourite band and immediately restyled themselves for the “Girls, Girls, Girls” record. ZMATLR grew in notoriety, touring the America and then the world, co-headlining arenas and theatres with GUNS’N’Roses and finding themselves at home playing festivals and baseball stadiums with IRON MAIDEN. After attending a ZMATLR concert at Hammersmith Odean and giving it his seal of approval, ALICE COOPER then recorded the ZODIAC MINDWARP-penned “Feed My Frankenstein”, later performed in the film “Wayne’s World”. The critical acclaim of ZMATLR then caused rare misfortune, when they lost their young naive bass player to the lures of THE CULT. The band soldiered on regardless. Sometime later, in Paris, Slam Thunderhide, their drummer decided to put down his sticks to become a GoGo dancer in Vancouver. Present day: With “The Cat” shaking the Earth on Drums and “Jack Shitt” rumbling the low frequencies, they ride again, honing their skills playing for the Viking descendants in Scandinavia. From these tough, manly ordeals, a new set of recordings have been forged. “We Are Volsung” is the result, a celebration in the Norse tradition. Ten songs of pure unadulterated rock.

| Silvery | Written on Skin | £14.75 | ||
| David Sylvian | Sleepwalkers | £14.00
![]() |
Review In the 00s, DAVID SYLVIAN produced two of his strongest and most solitary statements, “Blemish” and “Manafon”. But those records don’t tell the whole story. In the same period, Sylvian created a more playful body of work: a series of collaborations and side projects with leading talents of pop and improv, electronic and contemporary classical music. The best of these recordings are gathered here on “Sleepwalkers”, meticulously sequenced and remixed: the fruits of one-off meetings and lifelong partnerships, they jump from bliss to intrigue, romance to sensuality, as arch-experiments lead into the lushest pop. The single “World Citizen (I Won’t Be Disappointed)”, written with RYUICHI SAKAMOTO, is a sublime example, with an impeccable melody and lyrics warmed by Sylvian’s gorgeous tenor. Sylvian has worked with Sakamoto for close to three decades. By contrast, on “Pure Genius”, a collaboration with Chris Vrenna aka TWEAKER, he sounds like he’s walked into a heist flick, singing the part of a delusional, dangerous bedroom genius. As Sylvian explains, tracks like this “give me a chance to write in a way that’s completely non-personal, playful. It’s an exercise of some kind, working within the parameters of a given assignment.” Sylvian’s longest-running partnership is with his brother, drummer and electronics artist STEVE JANSEN, and two of their projects find their way here: the NINE HORSES trio with BURNT FRIEDMAN, and Jansen’s debut album (and Samadhisound release) “Slope”. “Sleepwalkers” also spotlights the innovators who contributed to “Manafon” and “Blemish”. CHRISTIAN FENNESZ hangs a crackling, shimmering curtain behind the vocal on “Transit”, matching his signature mass of sui generis sounds to Sylvian’s stately performance, and the title track began with an instrumental handed to Sylvian by MARTIN BRANDLMAYR of POLWECHSEL, soon after the first recording session for “Manafon”. Spite crackles in the gaps between the percussion, and onkyo artists TOSHIMARU NAKAMURA and SACHIKO M set the stage for the scathing lyrics in the chorus. Like 2000’s “Everything and Nothing”, “Sleepwalkers” is a retrospective of the past decade – but it’s also an eye-opening complement to his solo releases. As Sylvian explains, “Some collaborations seem to be a one-off exchange but you can never be too certain of that fact. Others have been long term. Ryuichi comes to mind as, of course, does Steve. And then there’s others with whom you hope to continue working as you feel you’ve barely scratched the surface. Other times offers come out of the blue, welcome, inspired. Regardless, it’s wonderful to have so many possibilities to juggle with. Each collaboration seems timely. It’s as if there’s a rightness to the exchange at a given moment in time.” Format Tracklisting Record Label Release Date Click here to order |

| Tenek | On the Wire | £12.00 | ||
![]() |
Review Following in the trail of last year’s critically acclaimed début album “Stateless”, “On the Wire” sees the return of a more worldly-wise TENEK. The songs and sound have stepped up a notch as the band continue to mature and experiment with new themes and influences. They have all the elements that you would expect from this act – solid electro grooves with nods to the past, present and future and hooks that are simply relentless. A lot has happened for the band in the last eighteen months and it shows! Having toured extensively throughout the UK, mainland Europe and Russia with artists such as MESH, JOHN FOXX, GARY NUMAN, THE HUMAN LEAGUE, DE/VISION, A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS, IRIS and ASSEMBLAGE 23, TENEK have grown in confidence and channelled their experiences back into their music. Credible and satisfying, “On the Wire” has turned up the power and emotion with new songs that are deeply engaging and uplifting. A strong, confident second album of pounding electronic rhythms, driving guitars and simple but powerfully affecting choruses that will be running around inside your head for days. | Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio | Do Angels Never Cry and Heaven Never Fall? | £10.75
![]() |
Review ORDO ROSARIUS EQUILIBRIO are easily one of the most enigmatic and intense projects to grace the non-mainstream music scene. On this new EP “Do Angels Never Cry and Heaven Never Fall?”, the Swedish duo invokes massive orchestral soundscapes, apocalyptic folk visions and ritual drums, intertwined with haunting, yet memorable melodies. With the title track (presented in two different versions each sporting a different musical approach) and the other two new songs featured here, ORDO ROSARIUS EQUILIBRIO address some of the more profound questions of human existence in their most accessible output to date. An enthralling listening experience fuelled by art, passion and fragility.
