Latest Transmission 16-09-2010
It isn’t very often that we have the privilege of announcing a brand new Model 500 single, so we cherish this moment dearly, as the old stalwart R&S Records present ‘OFI’, featuring of course Juan Atkins alongside Mad Mike and company. Robert Hood’s deadly new twelve inch also drops, while Abstract Forms dive in with their latest and highly anticipated offering from Morphology, ahead of the full-length which is due shortly on Zyntax Motorcity. Pre-orders for both releases have been gathering, so if you fancy either of these, you know what to do.
Fans of Bunker be sure to check this one out, as Interstellar Sounds favourite, Shemale, emerges with an obscure little gem of a release, available only as a highly limited and undoubtedly collectable cassette. Expect the usual high standard of dark and otherworldly atmospherics.
Last, but not at all least, in stock now is virtually the whole range of Coppice Halifax recordings, who have an upcoming release due soon on Other Heights. So here is your chance to get up to speed on a great selection of past works. Limited copies on most of these titles.

MODEL 500 – OFI/Huesca (R&S)
Ships Monday 20th September
Not many single releases can be labelled as events, especially not in the ever homogenised techno world, but the first single from Model 500 in eleven years, and the first recorded by the new band line up is most definitely an event.
It’s only fitting that this single is released on R&S Records, whose relationship with the man widely acknowledged as the originator of Detroit techno goes back seventeen years and who released the last Model 500 album back in 1999.
In 2007 Atkins partnered up with Mike Banks from Underground Resistance to form a Model 500 band. It wasn’t the first time they had played together as Model 500, but this time Atkins added Detroit DJ/producer DJ Skurge to the mix, along with longtime associate and established funk and techno producer Mark Taylor. As the “new” Model 500, they began performing as a band, debuting at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and not too long later, performing at festivals in Europe and Japan. This single is the first music to come from sessions of the new line up, with Juan Atkins, Mike Banks and Mark Taylor sharing writing credits.
‘OFI’ is classic Model 500, the kind of insanely funky electro-techno that Juan Atkins pretty much invented with amazing vocals from Juan himself. Underground Resistance legend ‘Mad’ Mike Banks comes correct with a superb stripped down remix of ‘OFI’ in true UR style. Finally here, ‘Huesca’ is a perfect example of classic, deep Detroit techno featuring string arrangements that could have only come from the UR connection.

MORPHOLOGY/CRC – Combined EP v1.0 (ABSTRACT FORMS)
The Finnish future wave funk returns to Abstract Forms! The first in a series of various artist EPs, Abstract Forms brings you the first Combined EP of 2010 and this time we bring you future wave funk from Finnish electro duo, Morphology alongside solo material from Michael Diekmann under his CRC guise.
An exciting concept, the EP is split into two halves:
Side A, Morphology – Showing hints of Kraftwerk, Drexciya and Dopplereffekt all bound together with a modern twist of acidic undercurrents and razor sharp electro beats. It’s gritty electro music with guts!
Side B, CRC – Deep futuristic excursions into the realms of simple electronic beats, warm pads and beautiful melodies. This is forward thinking electro music for the 21st century, the perfect tonic for the start of the winter months.
