OE is mainly founding members John Bergstrom and Brannon Hungness (aka Figure). Hungness is an experimental guitarist and composer and a former member of the Glenn Branca Ensemble. Bergstrom is a computer-music musician and a film composer with a classical music pedigree, and mastermind behind the industrial-noise assembly Torse. Mark Kirschenmann, Doug Wallace, and Rebecca Karpoff are also credited with contributions. Seraphim Halluncino, which I gather means something like "angelic hallucination" is a creepy collage of sounds taken from the totality of the sound world we live in. Cinematic in scope and expression, this sounds like the soundtrack to a particularly intense nightmare. Disturbing sounds and voices are layered with beautiful strings and the occasional sudden jerk of something jumping out at you. There are 23 indexed tracks but the disk plays like a single track for the most part. The instructions on the cover suggest the use of headphones. I agree. And sitting in the dark probably wouldn’t hurt the results either.

The artist (aka Arnfinn Killingtveit , aka Swamps Up Nostrils) uses a modified alpine-skiing helmet turned feedback instrument with the help of discarded headphones and microphones) and whatever else comes to hand. There are photos and videos (Youtube, Mutant Audio) extant on the internet that make me fear for the guy’s hearing (and even life). 13 tracks for those of you who like their music without boundaries.

Collaboration CDR by industrial noisebeaters Swamps Up Nostrils (aka Helmeticrononaut) and Guignol Dangereux. Six corroded metal-laden noise and techno shredded beats. Some distorto vocals for good measure. Not bad when you’re in the mood for some chaos in your life, or after a day of humiliation at the hands of a boss whose only reason for living is to give you a hard time and make you look bad in front of your fellow workers. The soundtrack for the day you kick his ass. Payback is a bitch. The disk ends with the epic Dangereux track "the noseman sonata" which regales us with a relentless beat that slowly changes as the piece develops.

Modern dirty electro-mechanical pulse music with all usual ?culture in decay’ referents. Good for the dance floor but not much deep thought going on here. But who wants to think while we’re dancing.
