First off, let me say that this is not music that crosses these pages regularly, but i hope it will appeal to the most open-minded among noise listeners. Brobdingnagian play a mentally deranged blend of depraved black metal and sickening noise/experimental.
The title track is a perfect example of the forementioned style, there are massive guitars played slowly over sheer analog noise background with filtered voice loops and an inhuman singing. "Poison Tongue--Bloody Throat" starts with an early, archetypal black metal voice on fast tempo guitars reminding the most fucked up moments on the first Stretchheads album -- then after 2 minutes and a half the music stops and there are 3 minutes and a half of silence -- and then again filthy vocals on heavy circular riffs. The whole album is recorded in a delightful lo-fi style. Highly recommended to those who liked Ash Pool ( Prurient's Black Metal spin-off ). Check out their myspace and buy their cd because Satan rarely sounds this intresting. Limited to 501 copies.

It took me some time to get used to it. The majority of this album is downtempo/illbient, featuring some experimental bits, some UK-influenced electronica and even some middle-eastern percussions and freaky sitar loops. Now, even if my references are obvious, do not think to Confidence Breeeds Suspicion as another useless 90s revival, as all the above mentioned styles are re-elaborated with a personal touch and this record belongs to 2008. The structure of the songs on this one is unpredictable, so expect swift style changes in the same track but not in the overall mood. I must say that I didn't like the Squarepusher-like bursts on "A Million Birds Should Know Somethint About Modesty" at all, as they don't fit with the other tracks, but maybe it was made on purpose. An interesting album, it may appeal to those into Residents more eclectic works.

Slave Auction is a brand new project by Eugenio Maggi (Cría Cuervos) and Nicolas Campagnari. This is their very first release on their own label 13 Monden (www.13monden.com) where they'll publish some of their next releases (a split cd with Demonologists + Metek and a split cd with Canadian mindphucker Women in Tragedy). Expect 20 minutes of ear-raping black-noise from the pagan backwoods. The track starts with repetitive low pitched sounds resembling Mammal's "quiet" moments; then things starts to get heavier and the central part is in the vein of Spanish power noise pioneers L'Akstremauncio. The final part is somehow near to Ahlzagailzehguh's ultraviolence with a lower volume, but a similar impact. It's a soul-hurt. Be prepared.

"Moraines II" features a re-work of "Moraines" (2006 - Twenty Hertz/Sileat) and a remix by Andrew Liles. "Moraines" sounds went to a major re-process here. Cria Cuervos recordings' are more distinct and fit better with the drifting drone layers made by Paul Bradley. The whole track gains also in brightness, they made me think of getting lost in mysterious organic planets like the one in Herzog's "Great Blue Yonder". The previous "Moraines" was rougher and you couldn't distinguish the sounds. A good setting to tickle your brainmeats with this one, would be a slightly illuminated room and headphones (not necessary, though). Liles' contribution is absolutely brilliant - it is a plodding re-mix ending with a spectral piano in an appropriate dark avantgarde Organum-like sound. A quiet droney journey to "sooth away the pain"...

Wow! A brutal slab of industrial-noise here on Fluchtwacht's "Final Noize" on the finest Special Series of Italy's Final Muzik. The first track is called "She's a Wolf" has unbridled moments of rage with the usual Fluchthwacht minimal rhythms. The second is called "Unbekannte Bewegung", a perfect soundtrack for the summer, resembles the controlled chaos of the early Spk's singles, and is obviously my personal favourite here. The album continues alternating noisy tracks and some primordial rhythmic-noise, all in a bad trip mood. I must say that I've been surprised by the improvement of this artist since I've heard his first works. Highly addictive if you're into real industrial.
