These guys never cease to amaze me! Always something new and always experimenting and pushing the limits and boundaries of electronic music. This newest release combines elements of their already established IDM and Industrial sound techniques while broadening the definitions of Synthpop and EBM. Amazingly they've done all this with a new baby on the way as well, congrats! The album topic is something that most of us can, unfortunately, identify with - the corruption of corporate society and the rigors of cubicle dwelling. You'll also find many elements in this release that borders on Futurepop (and no I'm not talking VNV I'm talking NASA and other mechanique approaches - a more modern approach than Kraftwerk) which also gives this further uniqueness and pushes all boundaries to thier eclectic and structural limits. Not for the timid or pop oriented, yet still fully functional on the dancefloor! *As an additional bonus when you purchase the CD pay close attention to the content, you just might find the necessary clues to acquire a FREE bonus from the band.

What a lovely Christmas present from Invisible Records and Underground, Inc. - a new CD by Pigface. Fuck it up Pigface! This project, originally a collaborative effort of the top names in the 1980's Industrial scene put together by Martin Atkins, is back with all new tracks and texture. From the first track you know this is going to be one of the better produced discs by this band as previous versions and incarnations were usually very raw and often live. This one has the polish of a studio production (first studio album in 5 years) and the growth of influences of Kittie, Dope, gODHEAD, Moby, PiL, The Clash, Ministry, Tweaker, Revolting Cocks, NIN, Bile, Nocturne, VooDou, Thrill Kill Kult, Nitzer Ebb, Hate Dept, LoLo, Darling Kandie and many, many more. Hell, what more can you ask for in a professional punk-ass Industrial album? This has been much needed and much awaited as the modern scene drifts into new genres and focuses heavily on dance music. While that is not a bad thing Industrial NEEDS Pigface!!! We need to remember the root Industrial sound and keep it alive as well while still expanding and experimenting and this is what Pigface does. Pigface is an Industrial monster created mainly for the fans and it shows. You'll find lots of new sounds as well as a continuation of the roots of the Industrial sound right here! Lots of variance as well from funky grooves to hard thrashing tracks. It's all about fun! You'll even find a little Opium Jukebox influence on "Closer to Heaven". Oddly there is a cover of Trio's "Du Liebst Mich Nicht, Ich Lieb' Dich Nicht" done in a psychedelic KMFDM/Pig sort of way. There is even some spoken word on "Binary Stream" and most hilarious of all is "The Horse You Rode In On" - 'Fuck the mainstream, fuck the norm, and fuck conformity!' --- All I can say after that is - Fuck yeah!

Originating from Florida and currently residing in party city of New Orleans, this American duo takes influences from everything, as the band claims, between the bizarre and powerful atmospheres of Coil to the dancefloor rhythms of Front 242 not to mention lots of newe influences as well. This latest release is heavily loaded with body rockin' EBM and a bit of Synthpop influences as well. The last three tracks are remixes by the such EBM greats as Assemblage 23 and the hard hitting Stromkern. "Enigma" features the vocals of Victoria Lloyd of Claire Voyant. cut.rate.box is the type of band that both heavy EBM lovers and fans of high-energy Synthpop can enjoy. Their style ranges from the harder Industrial and technological soundscapes of artists like Front Line Assembly built into heavy EBM dance rhythms like what you'd expect from more recent artists like Icon of Coil. Their sound is highly modernized and always energetic. Vocally they have a bit of a strange range that utilizes bizarre harmonies. Lyrically intelligent and emotionally vibrant cut.rate.box utilize every trick in the book from the gutteral/static industrial vocal and themes to the more soothing and emotional synthpop styles. "Brittle" is probably the most 'static' track on the album which fittingly also features a remix by Stromkern of the same giving it even more of an edge. I think the standout tracks on the release are "Brittle", "Zionsank", and "Leave This World" probably because of the stark contrast of style format of each track when compared to each to each other. "Leave This World" has what is probably the most synthpop melody for the chorus and I love the lyrics too, "I'm gonna take you for a ride and we can leave this world behind and everyone that's so unkind gets swallowed by the tide", a sentiment I'm sure many can relate to. This is an album that I'm pretty sure will simply continue to become more an more addictive the more I listen to it.

This is one psychotic yet hard hitting head trip collaboration between TKK's Groovie Mann and William Tucker known mostly for his work with Ministry but also worked with KMFDM and Pigface. Groovie Mann's photography is featured in the CD and as Underground, Inc. puts it, "instantly underlines him as a twisted agent provocateur. The photos form a crispy creme kocktail party of lust, decadence & indulgence.". This album musically is a strange mix of lounge, swing, industrial, rock, and psychedelica. Vocally it is somewhere in between TKK and RevCo with a taste of Daniel Ash at times. Big synth heavy bass carries many of the tunes and you'll hear lot of the horn interludes similar to what you might hear in TKK only bigger and less 'sampled' sounding. This is a very dark album with a psychotic and sexual twist. Imagine several individuals an alone in their respective apartment rooms - lonely and half insane, not to mention likely a bit sex crazed. That might give you taste of the psychological tone of the album. Take that and amplify it to a Big Swing beat and Industrial technique and you might get an idea of the sound. No TKK fan's collection should be without this. Amazing, I've always like Groovie Mann live and wondered what he'd do on his own and we finally have a taste of his own twisted toxic cocktail concoction. A huge twist on this release begins when you get to "Secret Ceremony" which is more of a 70's psychedelic rock tune with some Indian belly dance to it. I especially love the hysterical sample at the end, "This is no dream, this is really happening." With this and the title track especially you can hear the Underground, Inc. influence with the Indian drumming and other sound structures combined with industrial experimentation. The title track vocally is nothing but samples which when combined create a practically mystical perspective - things like, "Open your mind to me", "one spirit", "come to me now", "they have one mind", "one will", "you are the one", "I am the way", "I'm you and you're me", "the dark side", "this is your eternity". All of these come from a wide array of places like different movies and such - and are all chopped together and looped. Very cool!! I have to remember that for one of my next pagan broadcasts. "Randy Road" is a hilarious track because it's all female samples saying stuff like "will do me a favor and eat my pussy for me please". Oh and "Younglam" sounds like it is VERY T-Rex inspired - fuck yeah. This is just a fraction of the album. The whole thing is one crazy mind fuck!! You'll love it and the last track will likely give you chills.

First live recording ever from the sexsational industrial disco act. Features classic Wax Trax-era club hits, like "Kooler Than Jesus", "The Days of Swine and Roses", "Cuz it's Hot", and "Sex on Wheelz". One of the things I've always loved about TKK live is that they 'always' play variant mixes of their music from those on the releases. Thus if you want to hear cool remixes of TKK tracks just check them out live. I've done this no less than at least four or five times and I have never been let down yet. This album is no different and it is the first time for them to actually record them and produce a live album. Just check the tracklisting and you can see that there are some great tracks included here. The whole album is total TKK Mindway and though some of the mixes may production-wise fall slightly short in rare cases the overall sound is not nearly as raw as you'd expect. For a live album it's quite well produced. Also, I like how you can hear the words better on many of these as well such as on "Nervous Xians". The original is so hard to comprehend. "I walked through forests with ugly spirits, kissed their feet and found them calm, calm, calm...". Fans will also note that this is also the same song with a different name as "After The Flesh" from The Crow soundtrack. I just think that Buzzy shouldn't sing over the samples so much though. This is a great release for those who are still in love with the 'old' TKK but also like the newer sounds as well. This is a psycho-sexual head trip back to the late 80's underground of harsh dance-industrial with a taste of disco. Fans will also note that the mix of "Swine and Roses" used here is more like the KMFDM remix than their own. I'm amazed at how well this album captures the live sound and experience (minus the visuals of course). So, even if you already own all the TKK CDs with all these songs you still have to get this as they all sound 'very' different and totally reach out and grab you live. So come'on Sexy Sucker and Ride the Mindway!! Also, if you wish to continue your Mindway experience be sure to check out the brand new TKK side projects Cherrie Blue and Darling Kandie.
