Foot and Mouth Disease is the work of one Lawrence Patti, who hails from upstate New York. I previously reviewed his work “Forever Is Composed Of Nows” and enjoyed the material, so I was interested to see what he had in store for us this time.
The best way to describe this disc is "hallucinatory." Everything feels like it is lost in a dream. This is noisy, but not noise, and everything is covered in a sheen of reverb. Some, like "tgd 12" features a heavily pounding beat that slowly runs through the track like a funeral dirge, but even this maintains the dreamlike qualities with swirling synth. Everything feels tenuous and unsettled, but not in a sinister way. Overall, this is interesting and worth checking out.
