FFI Digital is another project from the hardest working man in Noise. Dan Fox is better known by his projects Loss and This Is What I Hear When You Talk, as well as a host of other names. FFI Digital is different in that these tracks are created entirely on a PC using various paid and free plugins, and lots and lots of automation. This is a set of two 3" CDs, so let's get into it.

We start off with "180119C," and all I have to say here is "Holy overdrive, Batman!" This is barely holding together, and what is left is clanking with a heavy layer of stuttering static. "180119D" switches it up with a galloping drum and noise piece that is reminiscent of Sonar or a host of artists you would find on Ant-Zen. However, this lacks the sterility that I have found in some drum and noise artists. There is enough variety here to keep it interesting.

Moving on to the next disc, "180119E" brings back the static with some heavy mid-spectrum noise with some bass interruptions. Everything is nice and crunchy, although I would have liked a bit more low end. "180119F" closes it all up with a track so different that I had to check to make sure that I hadn't accidently clicked on something else. This is almost like a retro techno track with some weird analog sounds and a deep reliance on flanger effects. If you want to get funky in your space-age bachelor pad, Fox has you covered. The closest comparison I have is Plastikman, and the track isn't bad, which demonstrates Fox's versatility. Then again, anyone who has heard his Loss project knows that he has a keen ear for melody.

This has a little bit of something for everyone. You want beats? You got it. Heavy static? Done. Drum and Noise? It's here. You could even sneak "180119F" into a DJ set. That said, I would have liked a bit more variety in the noise on "180119C" and "180119E," but the other two tracks more than make up for this. This is well worth picking up just to see how the HNW fans react to 180119F.
