For those who are less familiar with this artist, Mark Wilson has been performing under the name Conure for over two decades and is also part of the ensemble 15 Degrees Below Zero. As Conure, he uses "microphones, effects pedals, loops, field recordings, and mixer as his main set of tools to create sounds that range from minimal drones to heavily layered walls of feedback and cacophony." Sounds like a good time, so let's dive in.
I have known Mark Wilson for a long time, and one of the things I enjoy about his music is the attention to detail. This disc is no different. This disc consists of one track, "Intrusive," which is a slow descent into drone that begins just barely on the noisy side of ambient. Bits of feedback squeal, bass drone with a slight sawtooth edge, the plinking of a keyboard. Everything is placed carefully until it begins to fall apart into heavy, rumbling noise halfway through. The rest moves between piercing noise and quiet, crackling passages until it finally ends with a bit of feedback and staticy hiss (that fakes you out, thinking it's over before coming back like a bad horror protagonist).
If you want something noisy, but not really harsh noise wall, this would be a good disc to turn to. It is well put together with a lot of variety to it. Well done. This disc weighs in at 18:22 and is limited to 42 copies.
