In the digital corridors where code meets chaos, "ol07" is a transmission from Bankert that defies convention as much as it embraces it. Named after HTML’s “ordered list” tag, the album marks the seventh entry in a series of self-released creations, and in its terse, raw delivery, it seems to challenge the very notion of musical hierarchy. No artist identity, no frills, no glossy narratives - just sound, surgically fragmented and mercilessly distilled.

Here, Liechtenstein-based Bankert is less a musician and more a digital specter, invoking sounds that are equal parts machine and visceral heartbeat. The tracks, each a brief burst between one and four minutes, resemble flickering digital signals, glimpses into a parallel world where rhythm is king and melody is its obedient servant - or perhaps its hostage. The soundscape is turbulent, persistently shifting between driving pulses and sudden disconnections, as if the album itself is questioning the structural integrity of “music”.

“~osc” opens the experience, with a stuttering, almost glitch-like drive that primes listeners for what’s to come: a descent into a fractured, wired-underworld where silence is no refuge. Tracks like “haengt” and “bridging the gap” grip tightly, laying a minimalist groundwork as Bankert manipulates and mutates each layer with precision and an unmistakable love for sonic subversion. At points, like in “just you” and the deliciously cheeky “fuck fans”, we feel the artist’s wry detachment, a commentary on the transactional nature of digital fandom and the way music consumption has become another ‘order’ to process and discard.

If Bankert’s music could be likened to anything, it might be the auditory equivalent of an obsolete modem stuck in an existential crisis. This is “pure sonic fiction”, in Bankert’s own words - a statement that almost borders on irony, as if daring us to find meaning in what, at first listen, feels like chaos. But beneath the hard edges and erratic pacing lies a meticulous devotion to the tools and textures of sound. Bankert’s tape-music approach, with its improvisational ethos and sampled machinery, infuses "ol07" with an unpolished, almost punk defiance that cuts through the digitally dense landscape.

Bankert’s self-imposed anonymity gives the project a strange allure, as if "ol07" has slipped through a wormhole from a parallel universe, a data ghost that both exists and refuses to exist in the same breath. Tracks like “p0nq” and “the pain” pulsate with the glitchy, industrial echoes of warehouse rave scenes and the bleak futurism of sublow sounds. By the time we reach “β-klotho”, the final transmission, Bankert leaves us with an afterglow that lingers in our minds like pixelated residue - not quite music, not quite noise, but something vividly in between.

"ol07" is a digital riddle wrapped in distorted frequencies and irreverent rhythms. It’s less an album and more a challenge, daring us to decipher its warped signals and find ourselves somewhere within its jagged textures. After all, in a world where music is endlessly processed and formatted, Bankert’s anti-algorithmic approach is a refreshingly human one.
