Substak seems to be quite prolific lately, releasing several short pieces on Inner Demons. I had reviewed some of his other works and enjoyed them, so I was interested to see what we would find in this particular vortex. The label describes the release thus: “This single, sustained drone envelops listeners in a dark and hypnotic atmosphere, where time blurs and consciousness gently drifts.” Sounds promising, so let’s dive in.
This is one track of spacey ambient with a nice mix of heavy bass and high pitched whine. This is what it sounds like on a spaceship in science fiction movies. There are subtle shifts in sound, but the overall feel is consistent. Nicely done. If there is a criticism to be had here, it is that I would like to hear more. This release weighs in at 12.5 minutes.
