In "Farewell", Sinemis - aka Sine Buyuka - crafts an elegy for a homeland fractured by disaster and political betrayal. This album is a sonic tapestry woven from grief, rage, and longing, where techno's pulse meets ambient's introspection, and traditional Turkish motifs shimmer through digital veils. It's a requiem not just for lives lost in the 2022 Türkiye-Syria earthquake, but for the erosion of a nation's democratic soul.

The opening track, "It's Not Fate, It's You", confronts the platitudes offered by authorities in the wake of tragedy. Here, Sinemis channels her anguish into a haunting blend of organic pads and semi-modular synths, capturing the visceral emotional maelstrom of the event.

"Exit Democracy" delves into the sorrow of witnessing a country's democratic backslide. The track's mournful tones and bubbling textures evoke a sense of loss and disillusionment, reflecting the artist's personal estrangement from her homeland.

Throughout "Farewell", Sinemis balances the personal with the political, the traditional with the contemporary. Her compositions serve as both a love letter to the land she once called home and a scathing indictment of the governing powers that have so harmed its people and culture.

Sine Buyuka's journey from Istanbul journalist to London-based electronic musician is marked by a commitment to amplifying marginalized voices. As the head of Injazero Records and a professor of electronic music at Guildhall, she continues to push boundaries, both sonically and socially.

In "Farewell", Sinemis doesn't just mourn; she mobilizes. The album stands as a testament to the power of music to bear witness, to challenge, and to heal.
