Arrived to his fifth full lenght release as Gd Luxxe (counting also "Vendetta" that is a five tracks MCD), Gerhard Potuznik bring to the attention of his audience a mature album titled MAKE. Starting with "Submission" back in 1999, where the Gerhard's music were more influenced by new wave and especially by New Order, the project moved on with 2003 release "The 21st door" where Detroit techno was the main influence while the vocals were recalling a New Order style. Things changed with 2004 Ersatz Audio's "Between Zero and Eternity" where the new style was facing up. Techno left the space to a less acid atmosphere and sampled guitars were dueting with a upbeat rhythmic structure. The new album MAKE sum all the previous influences giving to the songs a strong structure that make me remember early John Foxx. The songs see bass guitar and electric guitar being treated and mixed with samples creating a mixture of electro post punk coming from the future but really connected with the 80s. "Brick", for example, gathers a 4/4 rhythm at 130 bmp (or at least, it sounds like that) with sampled guitars that create a metallic raw background, while the following "Your airlines" is a short suite that sounds like a Philip Glass track. "Laserlight" instead sounds like an instrumental electro dance tune. It's amazing to see how well all these influences are mixed and how the whole album sounds convincing and fresh. MAKE has been released in the States by Tigerbeat 6 and in Europe by Potuznik's own Angelika Kölermann. Believe me, this release is a must!
