With both new releases of an EP named "Disillusion" and this full-length "Subversive" of the US Electro/Industrial act INURE, Alfa Matrix leads the attention to one of their recent new signings. After their debut "Seemless" out on the long defunct Dying Culture label, Adam Moore and Robert Vogel took a break and integrated Sam P. of PULSE LEGION (r.i.p.) as a fully accepted third band member. They started to work on new tracks and could also win Ted Phelps of IMPERATIVE REACTION to help out as a producer. So we have a typically US-influenced EBM/Electro production with all known elements and sounds. INURE can’t surprise with anything which can be called "new and never heard before" - while on the other side they do not disappoint and give a decent result. If you feel the need to start some comparisons - well, think on acts like the mentioned IMPERATIVE REACTION, PYGMY CHILDREN or UV, this would maybe fit with it. The vocals are energetic without the use of overwhelming effects and the lyrics are thoughtful written. I enjoy the straightness on most of their tracks here, favorites can be named in "This Disgrace", "Hymen", the instrumental cut "Only After" and the title track, but the most intense track is available here with "Intruder", which awakes a more darker approach. This is in all a satisfying and convincing EBM/Electro release, while it can’t be called groundbreaking. Like all Alfa Matrix releases you should check out the label website to make sure to receive one piece of the special DCD edition, which features a special second CD containing alternative versions and remixes as well as a different art.
