Created in 1995 by Krzysztof Wlodarski, Desolation Zone already released different albums for 666 Records, Void Rekordz and the same Beast Of Prey which is releasing this new one. L'HOMME MACHINE is a limited CD (444 copies have been made) presented into a beautiful package: inside a tin box you can find a pair of black latex gloves, an original surgical scalpel hermetically packed and a folded insert with infos. The album is titled after the studies conducted by the French doctor and philosopher Julien Offray de La Mettrie [from Wikipedia: "During an attack of fever he made observations on himself with reference to the action of quickened circulation upon thought, which led him to the conclusion that physical phenomena were to be accounted for as the effects of organic changes in the brain and nervous system. This conclusion he worked out in his earliest philosophical work, the Histoire naturelle de l'âme (1745). So great was the outcry caused by its publication that La Mettrie was forced to take refuge in Leiden, where he developed his doctrines still more boldly and completely, and with great originality, in L'Homme machine (Eng. trans., London, 1750; ed. with introd. and notes, J. Asszat, 1865), and L'Homme plante, treatises based upon principles of the most consistently materialistic character"]. Musically Krzysztof created six good dark industrial tracks based on percussive sounds mixed with cyclic noises and light melodies which create a sort of hypnotic soundtrack were noise isn't the most important thing. On "Marriage between man and machine", for example, you can find percussive dark ambient moments where pauses are as much relevant as the rhythmic ones. This isn't the usual industrial music based only on the effect created. Desolation Zone is able to create dark soundtracks where sounds and rhythms are calibrated just to form industrial rhythmic suites where the listener is suspended into a new sonic world.
