Ex-pat American Bondy, who lives in Berlin, out on this German dance label, gives us his take on various styles of electronic music, using guest vocals for the most part from various quarters of the electronic world. The disk open with the preachy hiphop track "Something is not right" blaming most of the world’s problems on the US (a popular past time I’m sure in Europe right now). Track #2 gives us a very Duran Duran inflected track. I can’t help but hear the influence of Kraftwerk here on many tracks, especially track #3 "xeno persuasion" which copies the deadpan Krafty vocals put through the ubiquitous vocoder. There are some interesting sounds here, as well as the usual bloops and bleeps of this type of dance music and altered vocals should satisfy the fans of electronic dance music everywhere. Heard a sample of the Bonzo Dog Band’s song "The Urban Spaceman" in track #6 (does Neil Innes have a lawyer?), a sample from "Blade Runner" in track#8 "L.A. Is Burning" (how about Ridley Scott?). The final and longest track (12 min. 29 sec.) is where he pushes past the hit maker dance track and does something interesting, starting with the languorous "bit by bit" and then moving into the dancey "ear worms". Personally I liked the first part better. This is also available on itunes, and as a 2lp.
