Released sometime ago but arrived on my desk only now with the Silence & Strength album I already reviewed, [PSYCHO] LOG:Y is a fantastic album where the sixteen tracks musically describe the psychic voyage of a madman deep down his insanity. On the deluxe package designed by John Coulthart and printed on quality art-paper you can also find a poster where are reported records of the diary of this character. Here we read that he found himself caged into a room where the walls are covered of blood and he don't know if he's been locked into an hospital or a asylum. To me they recall the writings of Howard Phillips Lovecraft and probably this is the reason why some tracks name some elements of the mythology he created (see "Esoteric Order Of Dagon" and "The Calling Of Cthulhu"). Musically you can't describe Chaoticum simply as experimental nor dark ambient, because madness can't be represented by homogeneous sounds. For this reason we have melodic moments alternated by tribal sounds, dark ambient patterns, orchestral dramatic scores (check "Tykie-soo") and spooky spoken word. Check some excerpts at the label's website, it's worth it...
