There's not one black woman in the world who can sing like Sade. Not ever! Sade (born Helen Folasade Adu) and her band (aka Sweetback) made their way in the music scene in 1984. Sade has sold over millions of records internationally worldwide. She is all about being herself and once said in an interview that she doesn't consider herself a role model. Her songs talks about love, life, sadness, pain, and everything in general. These promo video collections match-up to the songs to provide the audience a storytelling sequence. The directors of Sade videos have put alot of energy to shoot and polish the films with sophistication, the beautiful background tapestry, scenery, and images. Sade and her band look marvelous on film. They may not have played a part of being in the new wave/new romantic scene in the 80's, but their good looks and fashionable clothes definitely is suitable to fit their personality and music. Sade and her band's music is indeed for multi-racial, multi-culture. Not pop, r&b, jazz, and so on. There are 14 retro 80's and early 90's classy videos by this silky smooth angelic Nigerian and British female singer. Video includes "Your Love Is King", "Hang On To Your Love", "Never As Good As The First Time", "Paradise", "Turn My Back", which was shot in sin city Las Vegas, "No Ordinary Love" and "Cherish The Day" ended up in video rotation on VH1, "Sweetest Taboo" and "Is It A Crime" both are sequels. And who can ever forget that catchy jazzy tune "Smooth Operator" that is directed by Julian Temple who also directed Depeche Mode "See You" and David Bowie "Day In-Day Out". "Smooth Operator" ended up in video rotation on MTV back in the 80's. The video on dvd is an extended version that was never shown. The extended version is violent that shows a scene Sade's manager tries to choke her by the neck on the fire escape stairway. The police and detectives arrives on the scene and the manager leaves Sade to make his escape and by leaping on top to another building. The manager and the police detectives start having shootouts. The manager does get shot in the chest. As he clench on to his chest, he falls off the building as Sade watch in horror.

The dvd also includes a bonus video "By Your Side" from Sade's 2000 cd release "Lovers Rock", a discography, biography, and lyrics to all the songs. Sade and her band videos are enjoyable to watch. And each of them have a seriousness feel.

I, Synthesist: Art Of Survival

I, Synthesist (aka Chris Ianuzzi) is one of the few synth-pop acts I admire and respect for being original. Now, this one man electronic futuristic pop band is back with a new release following from his critical acclaim best selling album "Avalanche". This six song ep is easy to get into. Eighties tied into the 21st Century sound that will get your undivided attention. "Art Of Survival" is a studied, classy, straight down the line synth-pop record. The music is bouncy and the beat is much more harder with a razorblade edge thump. So mature, confident, accomplished, and powerfully well produced without simultaneously losing the spark vitality and adventure that first urged I, Synthesist out of New York. The tracks combine with some of the best pop melodies around yesterday and today to make this album something special. I consider Mr. Ianuzzi the doctor and scientist pioneer of synth-pop in the new millenium. The new Thomas Dolby and Information Society of this new time and era. Highly memorable 80's vintage sounds you can hear in the songs as well. And the vocals so keen that have Talking Heads David Byrne singing arrangement style. I even play the cd every morning when I wake up, especially when I'm playing Mortal Kombat: Armageddon game on my PlayStation 2 with the tv volume down low or on mute. Chris Ianunzzi is interesting and brilliant with his vision and music in well form.

Steve-o-lution Dawn have a sound that alternates between daring delightful electronic industrial, metal, and hip-hop. SD is extremely fun to listen to. Take Devo, Kraftwerk and KMFDM and put them together, I guarantee you it will be a shocking surprise to combine the three bands to hear what they may sound like. An innovator and a genius to come up with something that catches the ear will certainly benefit a cause. This highly inspired album from Philly's industrial underground artist is definitely over the top. Dark danceable tracks will keep you dancing and wanting more. Vocoder is used, funky catchy groovy basslines that will make you get down right along with the beat. Powerful excellent tracks punching and intriguing. I can only imagine how many hours were put into this creation. Silly and witty Steve-o-lution can be. A product so stunning, it deserves every cliche you can find: red hot, high energy, funky, and madness with aggression. Tracks like "Ready 3001", "Fembot Distress", "Calling Steveomatic", "Ever Life", "Scarlett Destiny", and the re-make of Devo "Got My Mojo Workin'" is suitable for radio and club play. So get your dance on with this super crafted cd.

Darkwave Israel band Sophya is back with their release that's amazing, impressive, and ripe enchanting. After releasing two cds for Clan of Xymox Ronny Moorings label Stitching Xymox, the band signed with Mutantjasz Records owned by legendary Dutch post-punk band members of Mecano in Holland. "Third Wish" have the more common trappings of great songwriting and go straight to its cerebral and sensual core. This cd is splendid brilliant with deeply emotional female and male vocals, smooth and nice laidback basslines, simple crystal clear synthesizers and electronic melodies with guitar layers that will tranquilize you like a drug. The overall feeling of the cd is its essence of beauty paralleling that of the best recording and production quality for 2007. Sophya can be described as the most original Middle Eastern/European trio band around who can take you to another time, place, and give you something to think about. The cd contains the single "More", a video they shot for, which featured on Europe's MTV and reached number 2 on the chart. Other interesting outstanding tracks includes "A New Life Story", "Orchidea", "Faith", "Stare", "To Tears and Flowers", "Sixteen Rings (For A Memory)", and the superb well done job re-make of Joy Division "Transmission" . Sophya shines because of their impressive range of ideas, moods, and the sheer musicality of the finished whole. This Israel/Holland band got it going on!

Tears For Fears: Tears Roll Down-Greatest Hits '82-'92

This dvd is a collection of all Tears For Fears videos from 1982-1992. Watching some of these classic videos make me feel like I'm a teenager all over again. Nothing like watching good old videos from the 80's that you grew up seeing on MTV and other video stations and programs. The collection of videos includes "Sowing The Seed Of Love" that have that Beatle-esque feel, flying buddhas and other special effects going on make the video more quite interesting and fun to watch. In "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", Curt Smith looks so cool driving in a convertible, which was filmed in California. And of course, another favorite scene I like is when the two black guys who's all dressed up in a white shirt, black tie, a two piece suit, and wearing dark shades came out of the outhouse and start dancing. Who can forget "Head Over Heels", which was shot in a library. In teh beginning of the video, Roland's arms and hands filled with a bunch of books and barely could walk and finally made it to the librarian at the desk, who supposed to play his girlfriend. Curt plays the janitor who sweeps up the floor. "Mad World" shows Curt singing while sitting in a desk by the window and Roland outside on the patio staring at the trees and somewhere with his hands in his coat pockets. Then later on in the video he starts dancing. I like the hundreds of paper airplanes flying everywhere at the British new wave duo while walking and one of the paper planes hits Roland in the eye in "Pale Shelter". "Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down)" have that animated visual effect. The black and white video "Woman In Chains" feature r&b artist Oleta Adams who Roland discovered at a night club bar. This video is six minutes long and have that powerful drama catch. The characters in the scenes feature a woman who is a stripper and a man portrays as a boxer and they're having a problem in their relationship. Later, both worked out the problem. Relive the memories of Tears For Fears by buying their 12 videos collection. A collector item to have to store in your 80's memorabilia.
