SineRider is the ambient project of Devin Powers from Norwood, Massachusetts, and 'A Familiar Light' is about his fifteenth album over all, and his second for the Sound In Silence label. For over a decade, he has been producing his sublime music, ranging from ambient and electronica to shoegaze and post-rock, having many releases on labels such as Sun Sea Sky, Archives, Dronarivm and others, or self-released. He has also recorded instrumental music of a variety of genres like indie, slowcore, lo-fi, dubstep and 8-bit, under many different aliases such as Senseed, Bleepy Bloopy, Hooting Everywhere and Reanu Keeves, while he is also one half of the projects Lakewaves and Introspecter, along with Graham Marlowe and Brian Stegmann, respectively.

'A Familiar Light' is 11 tracks in about 41 minutes of what I call "melambient" music, being primarily melodic ambient. These are pleasant little melodies enveloped in soft pads that should bring a warm, fuzzy feeling into your day. These are gentle, mild little compositions, perfect for contemplation or even concentration as there is nothing jarring in them to distract. They are all relatively different as well, adding a certain amount of variety within the soothing ambience. A delightful album that comes in two CD versions - The first one is a deluxe limited edition of 50 handmade, hand-stamped and hand-numbered collectible copies. The disc of this edition includes two exclusive bonus tracks, not included in the other edition or the digital download. It is packaged in a lovely sewn fabric envelope, which includes a 4 panel insert sheet containing tracklist and information printed on a 250 gsm cream recycled cardboard and the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper. It also comes bundled with a download code coupon and a Sound In Silence card. The second one is a limited edition of 200 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies. It is packaged in a lovely hand-stamped 127mm x 127mm 250 gsm cream recycled cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper and an insert sheet containing tracklist and information printed on a 170 gsm mocha brown cardboard. It also comes bundled with a download code coupon and a Sound In Silence card.
