One of the things I have always appreciated about 15 Degrees Below Zero is their ability to evoke a kind of imagery in their music. This is much noisier than their recent work on Oxidation, which makes sense, as this was presented at the 2021 edition of Norcal Noisefest. They describe the process this way: “It appears to be a live video with us playing remotely from each other, but Michael created the initial sounds, Mark played along with Michael's layer, and then later Daniel played along with the other two layers while processing and mixing them as well.” This disc consists of one 16:39 track that has an almost claustrophobic feeling. The drone here is immense, and ebbs and flows to keep everything interesting. Layers on layers of sound pound away at your eardrums. In short, if you are looking for the mellow side of 15 Degrees Below Zero, you will not find it here. If you like their noisier output, this will fit the bill nicely. Well done.
