I was unfamiliar with this Croatian artist, but the Bandcamp description (according to Google Translate) states that “The band is inspired by the wind. They were the first in the village to have electricity, but they did not have Internet. So they were the first to introduce it.” Sounds like a good time, so let’s get into it.

If you have ever wondered what it would sound like to ride in a spaceship hurtling through interstellar space, Zauvijek Hani has you covered. But you are not riding in a nice spaceship. Rather, you have stowed away on a rickety space pirate barge that is held together with duct tape and bailing wire. Sweeping synth washes constantly cycle over a hum of metallic noises and grinding hiss. You can almost feel the drone of the interstellar wind sneaking through the portholes, and you hope that they don’t find you before you reach the planet you’re heading towards. This is spacy with just the right undercurrent of noise and dissonance to keep you company as you continually elude the pirates who are practically salivating at the chance to launch you out of the airlock to watch your body desiccate in the vacuum of space.

In short, this was a pleasant ride, space pirates notwithstanding. Well worth checking out and this album makes me interested to see what Zauvijek Hani comes up with next. This weighs in at around 19 minutes and is limited to 42 copies.
