Do you remember when in the nineties a lot of new sub-genres were surfacing? When labels like K Records started to release stuff was one of the first times that I heard talking about lo-fi music. Well, listening to this second album by Eats Tapes, titled DOS MUTANTES, this is the term that came to my mind. Their name along with their music are making me think about alien beings that ate old tapes of electronic music and then someone recorded their digestion's noises. The result is a cut up of eletronic lo-fi music that sounds like a battle of old Amiga video games. The patterns are looped just to form a particular robotic soundtrack and, for example, on "Full blast" it seems to listen to the battle plan speeched by a 56Kb modem. The duo plays particular and inspired instrumental tracks that will please the lovers of 8bit sounds.
