Title: The Vital Terms Of Rupal Records Compilation
Format: CD
Label: Rupal Records (@)
Distributor: Alive
Rated: * * * * *
First compilation of the German Rupal Records, which concentrates to present new and until now unreleased works of the signed label acts and out of the related X-Cem collective, accomplished with some international guests, which have been here and there involved into some business actions. So the biggest top-seller acts of the international scene are left out here, the responsible compilers therefor have taken a look to add quality and promising newcomer acts. The surprises of the comp are starting already with the first track done by a project called RUPALHEADS, which seems to be a project of the responsible people behind the label. Old-school-EBM bass line meets vocoderized vocals – yep, a nice introduction. WYNARDTAGE aka X-Cem chief Kai Arnold offers with "Cold Massive Blue" already a new Dark Electro tune. Some progression to more complex arrangements and some orchestral-like layer sounds can be heard, but it’s globally in his known style. With DERMA-TEK, lately besides DSBP now world-wide signed to the famous German NoiTekk label, the gates to some Hellektro tunes will be opened. "Lost Cause" is an older track of this US-based act taken from the unofficial same-titled debut EP. This EP should be hardly available also for die-hard fans, therefor it’s a fine initiative to offer here and there some goodies like this remix work of GRENDEL out of this release. Stefan Bens aka STIN SCATZOR returns after a longer time in hiatus. Lately he adds some sampled guitar riffs to his rather minimal EBM/Industrial sound and somehow this reminds me strong to his side-project with Johan Van Roy, LESCURE 13. DAVANTAGE themselves are of course also present with a new track. Deep male vocals combined with ripping bass lines, but also some outbreaking rhythm patterns – interesting arranged, but no club filler. A merciless and rhythmically Dark Electro/Powernoise assault follows with ACYLUM’s "Ich bin das Böse", which again proves the outstanding talent of this act – more from this, please! Czech Republic’s finest act DEPRESSIVE DISORDER are one of the so-called guests and provide their already known track "TV Freak" taken from their last album "In Depth". Hats down and hands clapping for the cool appearance of the DAVANTAGE side-project FUTURE TRAIL featuring cold female lyrics and excellent synth textures and bass lines. Whatever has driven the people behind the act THIS FISH NEEDS A BIKE to figure out this band name, tz-tz. The music awakes some minimal 80ies Pop/Wave remembrances. Follows then the recently released German act VIRTUAL VICTIM aka Christian Glaß providing a Dreamix of his most successful and known track so far, "Away" – a bit more melodic than the album version presented on his official debut "Transmission". An interview with this promising newcomer act will be follow soon on our site here. DIVERJE aka DSBP label chief Tommy T could also enter a free slot on this compilation and he offers a still unreleased remix work of one of his best tracks featured on the last DIVERJE studio album "The Distortion Chamber", "I Walk Alone", originally written in a collaboration with Wrythe of the US act LEXINCRYPT. Responsible for this remix is once again the New Zealand-based act THE MERCY CAGE – they are known for quality music and remix works providing the whole range between Electro-Pop, Industrial and Coldwave music. The Brazilian act KLAUSTROPHOBIK then can be for sure sorted under the moniker "known only to insiders". Some of you may can remember to discover this name on compilation compiled by Johan Van Roy, "Decoder", out on the German Infacted-Recordings label. Rusty and hefty pounding EBM with raging vocal performance by the band leader Nildo could be a possible style description. ACYLUM and WYNARDTAGE have again united to perform another new version of their track "Lords Of Darkness", the title track of their last year’s mutual release out of the Rupal Records/X-Cem Fanatics Series. Comes then the male/female-leaded act FORMALIN, often and well seen guests on several X-Cem collective compilations – and once again they can surprise with a rather straight but dark melodic track featuring whispered female vocals and lesser distorted drum patterns. LA MAGRA provide also a new tune in their known Dark Electro style and this comp finished with a to me unknown project called LINALOOL, which is also based musically into the Dark Electro style with distorted vocals. This compilation does well and gives a cool introduction to all relevant signed acts to this label. The guest appearances are well-chosen and it will be nice to see in which way this promising label continues.
