I had previously reviewed Davids' “Grey” and Landscapes” and enjoyed them, so I was interested to see what he had in store this time. According to the liner notes, “'Digitale Asche' means 'digital ash.' That will be everything that will be left of your digital life once you are gone.” This is an intriguing premise, so let's get into it.

In “Part 1,” there is a simple, quiet beat running throughout, with bits of grinding noise punctuate it. I get the feel of a more minimalist Autechre. I really liked it. “Part 2” is a bit more ominous in feel, with heavy bass drone providing the base of the track, with a more sparse beat and bits of analog noises and what sounds like heavily processed voice throughout. This is the sounds you would hear in the mad scientist's lab.

Overall, this was a pleasant listen and this would be a good gateway disc to people who are not really sure about experimental music. It is well put together and engaging while still being accessible. This disc weighs in at around 20 minutes.
